IPF is a progressive, chronic lung condition caused by the build up of scar tissue. The disease is ultimately fatal with a median survival of 3 years from diagnosis. Over 32,500 people in the UK live with the condition. Patients experience symptoms such as shortness of breath, tiredness and a dry cough.
